SICA's FACILITY

 

SICA is located in downtown Long Branch, New Jersey, just blocks from the ocean. The facility is easily reached from the Garden State Parkway, Route 18, and both the NJ Transit Academy Bus Lines and the North Jersey Coast Line train.

WHAT GOES ON IN SICA'S FACILITY?


ART INSTRUCTION

SICA offers instructional studios augmenting those programs available at educational institutions, as well as other courses, lectures, and workshops open to the general public. As a regional facility, the Institute is of immense benefit to all the participating institutions, as well as the people of central New Jersey and visitors from other areas.

EXHIBITIONS
In addition to educational facilities, SICA has an extensive gallery for the exhibition of contemporary visual arts. Artists who produce new and significant works of art and are known for their innovative work and ideas are selected as exhibitors.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES
The center includes a large project room that is used for performances, installations, unique art exhibitions or other special activities. This part of the facility is also used for other select public events and activities.

INTERNSHIPS
SICA's internship program is designed for undergraduate and graduate students of the visual arts, art history and art administration who desire experience in the functioning of a non-profit art institution. Individuals not affiliated with an institution of higher learning are also welcome to apply.

ARTISTS' STUDIOS

The Institute also has a selected number of private studios available to students and artists. These studios range in size from 150 - 700 sq. ft. and are offered at very reasonable monthly rates.

THE HISTORY OF OUR BUILDING
The building that SICA inhabits ha a rich and exciting history - from it's origins in automobile manufacturing to the most recent use as a can manufacturing plant.
